Ingerman Smith LLP is pleased to announce that Obianuju Chukwuanu and Christopher Gavin have joined the firm’s Hauppauge office as Associates and that Colleen Dowd, one of the firm’s former associates, has rejoined the firm as Senior Counsel in the Hauppauge office.

Obianuju (“Uju”) Chukwuanu’s background in complex litigation and regulatory issues provides valuable insight for the firm’s clients. Prior to joining Ingerman Smith, Ms. Chukwuanu practiced at a law firm specializing in securities fraud litigation. Ms. Chukwuanu earned her law degree at the Nigerian Law School and her LLM from University of Texas at Austin School of Law.

Colleen Dowd’s practice centers on federal litigation, FMLA, ADA, employment discrimination, Civil Service Law, Education Law, and construction law. Ms. Dowd first joined Ingerman Smith LLP in 2004, concentrating on labor, employment, civil service issues, general education matters, and litigation before various agencies and courts. After a period at a local firm, she is returning to Ingerman Smith LLP, continuing her emphasis on public sector management and litigation, including general education, labor and employment, and construction matters. Ms. Dowd earned her J.D. with honors from George Washington University Law School.

Christopher Gavin brings over a decade of litigation experience to the firm, with a background in insurance defense and trial advocacy. Mr. Gavin has extensive experience successfully litigating cases from their outset through trial, notably securing a defense verdict in a high-exposure personal injury lawsuit. Before joining Ingerman Smith, Mr. Gavin worked with both private and in-house law firms, concentrating on all aspects of insurance defense litigation. Mr. Gavin earned his J.D. summa cum laude from Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center, where he graduated as Salutatorian and served on the Law Review.
