Emily J. Lucas

Emily Lucas joined Ingerman Smith in 2004, where she represents clients across all facets of education law, labor law, and employment law. Her experience includes prosecuting tenured employee disciplinary matters, non-instructional disciplinary matters, labor grievances, and arbitrations. She also handles matters before the Public Employment Relations Board, New York State Division of Human Rights, United States Department of Education Office of Civil Rights, and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
Ms. Lucas also guides clients through the collective bargaining process. Her work in this area includes face-to-face negotiations, mediation, and fact-finding.
She frequently lectures on a variety of topics. These include the Taylor Law, progressive discipline, sexual harassment, the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and various anti-discrimination laws.
